Therapy for Teens
A writer has said this, “The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” This quote is often attributed to Plato or Socrates who lived over 2000 years ago. It is not a new thing for parents to experience challenges relating to teens, so please do not feel like you are alone.
Don enjoys the opportunity to relate to Gen Z teens who often think quite differently from their Millennial or Gen X parents. They often have strong opinions and frequently value authenticity above productivity. Don tries to build on teens’ strengths and support them to develop self-awareness and healthy ways of coping with stressors that are unique to any generation that has yet appeared on our planet.
Anxiety in particular is a challenge for youth that is reaching near epidemic levels. Don understands anxiety as a complex state arising from one more intense and unprocessed emotions. Don is aware that many popular strategies to address anxiety are ineffective and would like to support your teen in ways that bring relief.
